Fire Door Safety Week runs from 24th to 30th September this year, and The Composite Door Shop is delighted to support this annual initiative. Safety is one of our main concerns, both for our staff and for our customers, and we can’t think of anything better than to support a week-long event that’s entirely focused on that.
The Safety Week is designed to raise awareness of the importance of fire doors, and to encourage people to check their fire doors to make sure they’re still in great condition and up to doing their job. The week also focuses on education, and ensuring that everyone in the building industry and the many property owners in the UK know how to buy the right fire doors for their buildings, install them, inspect them and maintain them.
Fire doors literally save lives and yet there’s still far too much of a problem across the country where fire doors aren’t installed or maintained properly, where they are propped open when they shouldn’t be, and even worse, where they aren’t installed at all in areas where having a fire door is vital. Fire Door Safety Week is aimed at making sure that every building has the right fire doors that are correctly installed and looked after, and that everyone involved knows exactly what to do.
To get much needed information out there, the organisers of the Safety Week are blogging on various aspects of fire door safety and providing a toolkit for supporters to download. The British Woodworking Federation has also commissioned five hard hitting and very powerful films to ensure their point is made. You can find out more about them, watch and share here.
Want to highlight Fire Door Safety Week and help make buildings across the UK safer? Visit the website and pledge your support. You could blog about the week, share on social media with the hashtag: #FireDoorSafetyWeek, or get involved in any of the ideas suggested on the site, such as raising awareness with your staff, offering safety talks in the local area and making sure all of your fire doors have been thoroughly inspected.
And of course, if you need to replace or fit fire doors in your home or premises, we have a range of high-quality fire doors in 11 colours and with a selection of styles to choose from. Visit The Composite Door Shop’s Fire Safety Door page.
